My name is Antony and I am a third year student studying multimedia at Nottingham Trent University. I set up this blog to showcase my progress and the work I produce during my final year. I chose the Virtual Environments pathway as I am fascinated by 3D work, and enjoy creating it myself. I do also have a blog that showcases my first two years of work, and this can be located at the following address: http://antchapman.blogspot.com/

A bit of progression....
So I have now attempted to light my scene, and I must say I am rather happy with it. All that needs doing now is the scene outside the window, a few more object around the room to make it look lived in, and I might well tweak the lights a bit. Anyhow here is an image of how it looks at the moment.

On a slightly more positive note
Ok so after my rant about the simulated client project its time to show you something I am actually happy with. This is one of the images I am working on for my second context project. I have chosen to model my room at home. Some may say this is odd but I will explain my reasons. Basically my room encapsulates everything about me. It is a mixture of games and technology and its where I started experimenting with 3D modelling. So to me my room is one of the most important places in my life. I know this sounds sad but it is an area that fully encapsulates what I am about, what my interests are, and what my hopes are. It is also loaded with technology, namely my pc which, as a virtual environments student, is the one most important piece of technology. Anyhow I have been rambling a fair amount here so I shall give you a few screens to be done with for now.
A few screens from my simulated client....
Right, to begin with I just have to say that I felt absolutely no connection to this project what so ever. When I am given a project I normally expect there to be at least a few guidelines as to what the client would like, just a few ideas of the direction. But there was basically nothing, we were just told to go off a do something. This is not the way I like to work as this just leaves me second guessing every decision I make and not liking what I eventually come out with. Now I have that off my chest, here are a few screens from the finished piece. I wont be posting the final video on here as it is truly a piece that I do not like.

Client project
So for my client project I have been in contact with the headmistress of my old school, Farlingaye High School, about the possibility of me doing a piece of work for them. They are looking for a potential way to provide a tour of the school on their website. I have discussed the idea with various teachers and the headmistress of the school and am starting to get an idea of what they really want. They want a way to "show off", as it were, there complex, either through an interactive tour or through a video using clips of 3D model copies of the structures there.
So far this is as much as we have managed to discuss, though we are still in correspondence pending our next meeting to further discuss and refine the idea.

So its been a while.....
Ok folks so its been a while since I have posted anything of any repute. This is namely due to various different issues arising in my personal life that have taken a lot of my focus away from uni.
However I am now glad to say said issues have been dealt with and I shall be posting far more regularly from now on, so watch this space.

Simulated Client Ideas
Right, first post of the new blog, so best make it a good one I suppose...... So for this simulated client project we have to create a piece of work for the NTU Alumni Association. From what I have seen of them I have a fairly good idea of what I want to do. They talked about the donations they receive and this got me thinking. I reckon I am going to work on a piece that they can use as a thank you device, sent through email to the people who donate to them. In the seminar we had with them I recall them saying that they would be interested in this kind of product. So I reckon this is the route I will go.
My basic idea I reckon is to use 3D words flying across the screen to thank the person for their donation, and then show them what their donation could be used for, making them feel more involved and informed about the whole business. I will also look at creating a sort of mascot character I reckon, to somehow star in the thank you messages and give it a more "friendly" feel
