Effects Artefact

Throughout a lot of 3D environments different atmospheric effects are used to evoke different emotions and reactions. As can be seen in the picture above fog can evoke a lot of different emotions. It can create a sense of peace but at the same time it can also create a sense of fear. Fear is caused by the inability to see what could be lurking in the fog, or in what direction you should go, and is often used in games in conjunction with sounds to create a sense of tension an unease.

I also experimented with various different colours of fire as it is another effect that is regularly used within 3D environments. This is a simple fire effect with the colours tweaked.

I have also begun experimenting with trying to create a dust cloud effect. This will be added once it has been finished.

Once again it has been a while...

Ok all I know it has been a while again, however I have been doing a lot of trial and error work and I didnt want to keep putting up tiny little posts about everything. Instead I am gonna put up one mega post with everything that has happened in the past month or so....

A quick Update

Just a quick update as I continue to add colours and textures to my client project. The colour scheme looks fairly neutral, however it follows what I originally put in my proposal and I personally like it. However I will see how the feedback goes at my next tutorial as its not all about me at the end of the day. Once texturing has been completed I will move onto lighting and then will render out the shots I will be using for the final hand in.

A couple more Screens

Just a couple more screens from my client project for IHG. I am close to completion on the modelling side of things, so that is a relief.

Artefact 1 MkII

So this is the start of my new artefact 1, looking at how a different colour of light can affect the atmosphere within a scene. I have chosen to use a typical street scene, with normal lights as the first picture. The second picture is using red lights in order to simulate a Red Light District, and thus change the atmosphere from typical street at night into a dark and "seedy" area.
